farm animals When she was about 13 she goes with her father to auctions and she meets Jude Shetler who is calling the action Years later Jude is a widower with 3 children He has twin 16 year old girls and a 5 year old boy Jude and Leah fall in love and decide to marry Both of their families do not believe this to be a good idea, and the night before the wedding tell each of them their thoughts on the marriage But they go through with it anyway Once married the twins really test Leah to the point after just a few months Leah is just miserable She has kept all the things the girls have done to her over the past few months to herself, but at her wits end tells Jude she cannot live with him any Jude unlike a lot of men steps in to keep his family together This is not just a case of telling the girl to be nice to their new step mom It goes way further then that Already acting out and dating English men the girls over hear Jude tell Leah that he is not their biological father While trying to get their little family straightened out One night they hear a car pull up then leave, then a cry of a baby Someone has left a tiny baby on their porch Leah now has to decide how she can make them choices towards their stepmom were extremely rude and insensitive even though they made my whole family laugh out loud The twins also do many deceitful actions behind their parents backs and get hooked into the wrong English crowd This book was a very fast read for me because I was propelled to find out if Leah and Jude would ever get them under control Besides the challenges of dealing with the twins, Leah is a little bit domestically challenged Growing up as an only child she always preferred to help her dat with the livestock instead of learn how to cook, sew, or do household chores Now she is thrown into a household with an instant family and has to learn how to do all of these things Throw in an abandoned baby on the doorstep and you have one Amish woman who really feels like a fish out of water Luckily she has a very supportive husband, mother, and Amish community who will help her learn that she has what it takes to be a very good mamm I probably would have given this book there will be , at least I do A clean stor A beautiful cover and a beautiful book Loved it This sweet romance by Charlotte Hubbard was so enjoyable Not a cookie cutter Amish, but rather new and fresh This was a story of a blended family, blended in several ways and the trials, struggles and hard times they had to overcome Things don t always go smoothly as we might expect of an Amish family, but they are real family struggles, Amish or otherwise. It s a book that will leave you hoping there will be , at least I do A clean story, yet real, not sugar coated.I loved it I received a copy of this was certainly sweet However, it was kept from being saccharine by the antics of the twin stepdaughters, who certainly perked things up The stepson was also a welcome diversion I think I liked it because Leah had her own life and interests beyond the business of being a typical Amish wife Although I doubt I will read a lot of this type of book, I did enjoy this one flag Like see review Jun 09,
